Point Location Description: Precise, Shaft Fl, nearest property symbol 23 north of Moira Lake.

Location Method: Conversion from MDI

Access Description: Drive 1.4km west of Hwy 62 on Hwy 7. Turn left and drive 1.2 km. Turn left and drive 320m. Walk south from gate for 333m. Turn right and walk 750m along overgrown road. Road crosses fence at N end of fence, S end of page fencing. Overgrown shaft appears to have been filled in with debris.



Exploration History

1943: Fluorspar vein discovered by drilling. 1944: Detoma Mines Limited opened deposit. Shaft was sunk and 12 tons of ore was recovered. 1953-1959: Mine operated by Huntingdon Fluorspar Mines Limited, producing 11,554 tons of ore. 1955 & 1956: mine idle, shipments made from stockpile. August 31, 1959, mine abandoned due to excessive water.
