Point Location Description: Precise, Shaft Fl, just south of property symbol 28 on N-shore of Moira Lake.

Location Method: Conversion from MDI

Access Description: Drive south from main intersection in Madoc for 2.9 km. Turn left and drive 205m. Stop at north edge of lawn on right side of road (between road and lake).



Exploration History

1910: Mined from surface cuts by G.H. Gillespie and Stephen Wellington; C. Bowman in 1913; and William Cross and Stephen Wellington in 1915. Several hundred tons of ore was produced. 1917: Messrs. Cross and Wellington sank a shaft. 1952: Main development by Reliance Fluorspar. They sank a shaft to 170 feet at a point just west of Hwy 62 and 100 feet west of old shaft.
