Point Location Description: Shaft Au nearest to property symbol 49 W of Queensborough.

Location Method: Conversion from MDI

Access Description: Drive 2 km west of Queensborough (Sager General Store) on Co. Rd. 20. Walk from the bend in the road opposite the farmhouse up the middle of the field. Cross the fence and continue along the NE side of the next 3 fields. From the road the distance across the 4 fields is 700 m. Past the last fence, walk for 225 m approximately due north (towards the large maples on the east side of the 5th - final field.) Continue alongside the fence. The shaft is located to the east of the fence about 30 m on top of the hill on the edge of the woods, about 15 m south of a clearing.



Exploration History

1897-1900: Three shafts, Nos. 1, 2 and 3, sunk to depths of 60, 105 and 60 feet respectively. Lateral development totalled 98 feet. Ten-stamp mill installed. Some trenching. Work by D.E.K. Stewart, under option from Old Diamond Gold Mines Limited, and then P. McLaren, L. Meyer, and C. Meyer. 1901-1935: Shafts Nos. 1 and 3 continued to 100 feet. 140-foot crosscut to connect Shafts Nos. 2 and 3. 1936-1941: Trenching and pitting, No. 1 Shaft deepened to 156 feet, 400 feet of lateral development, 2,950 feet of diamond-drilling, and 15-ton mill installed by Old Diamond Gold Mines Limited and Mayboro Milling Company Limited. (MDC 18, 1979, p35).

Total: 110 ounces Au, 7 ounces Ag, 1800 tons ore milled, 0.06 ounce of Au per ton recovered grade (MDC 18, p35).
