Point Location Description: Shaft circle symbol just NNE of Deloro in lot 9, conc. 8.

Location Method: Conversion from MDI

Access Description: The Deloro mine is accessible by a paved road which runs north from Hwy 7 about 3.5 km east of Marmora. Turn north onto the Deloro road and drive for 2.1 km to the junction at the Deloro post office. The road to the left goes to Malone. Continue straight for 130 m to the Arsenic Processing Building on the right. This is the entrance to the Deloro and Gatling Five Acre properties.



Exploration History

Pre-1871: W.G. Gatling and partners acquired the property. 3 shafts opened, a number of buildings erected, 2000 tons of ore was raised. 1873-1880: Gatling-Gold and Silver Mining Company opened the Gatling shaft. 1880-1884: Canada Consolidated Gold Mining Company erected a 10 stamp mill. 1885-1891: About 645 tons of refined arsenic oxide were produced by the Canada Consolidated Gold Mining Company. 1892-94: Hastings Mining and Reduction Company Limited acquired the property. Arsenopyrite-rich tailings were treated for extraction of arsenic oxide and gold. 1895: Canadian Consolidated Mining Company acquired the property. 1896: Canadian Goldfields Limited acquired the property, shaft development and drifting. 1897-1900: Canadian Goldfields Limited worked on shaft development and ore extraction. 1901: new mill was completed, both arsenic and gold were produced. 1902-1903: Development and mine workings closed (see OFR 5548 for details).
