Point Location Description: shaft

Location Method: AMIS Site Visit

Access Description: East on highway 28 from Tory Hill, turning south on Hadlington Road. South past the exit point of the old Hadlington Road at 2.8km then keeping right at Y junction (0.9km). Go 1km to cross Irondale River and turn right onto 4 x 4 road keeping left 1.9km to capped shaft. Adit is reached following road which ends at flat area of tailings in front of sealed adit portal.



Exploration History

1952-53: Blue Rock Cerium Mines -trenching, 7 DD, ground radiometric survey 1954: Stratmat Limited - Scintillometer survey, trenching and diamond drilling in 7 holes for 201 feet 1954-56: Blue Rock Cerium Mines - mapping, underground development (440 foot shaft on the Main Zone with levels at 100,250 and 400 feet; 3416 feet of drifting and 2456 feet of crosscutting; adit driven to the 100 foot level). 1969: Amalgamated Rare Earth Mines Limited. - radiometric survey. 1974: Imperial Oil - DD 1987-1989: Concentrated Rare Earth Minerals Ltd. - sampling. 2005-El Nino Ventures Inc. - stripping, trenching, sampling. 2007: Boulder Creek Exploration Inc. - DD-9-1989 m

Lithology Comments

Feb 23, 2012 (A Wilson) - The property is underlain by bands of amphibolite and marble that strike east to northeast and dip 50-80° S to SE. These rocks are intruded by bodies of metagabbro and granite or granite pegmatite. The radioactive showings are in fractures in the syenitic pegmatite.

Mineralization Comments

Feb 23, 2012 (A Wilson) - In one exposure peristerite forms a border zone 7.6 cm thick, followed by a wall zone of pink feldspar and black smokey quartz 22.9 cm to 30.5 cm thick. El Nino Ventures collected 21 grab samples from the site and analyses averaged 0.054% U308.
