Point Location Description: Point just N of Bentley Lake.

Location Method: Conversion from MDI

Access Description: Hwy 28 to Siddon Lake road, park past the end of the road (past lot 101) and walk N 250 m to a trench on the S slope of a steep hill. A large face of calcite contains ilmenite crystals. Magnetite # 1 : 60 ft N-NW of cottage road as it traverses 'pt 98' of lots 14-15, con A. A trench, 30 x 2-5 ft deep and 3-4 ft wide is on the N. Pappas property - no collectors allowed. Magnetite # 2 : On the S-facing slope, immediately below a bluff, about 100 ft into lot 15 (W) from Pappas' W boundary. A trench, 100 x 3-5 ft wide and 1-6 ft deep. Property owned by E. Stanfelj, mining rights by Madawaska Mines. Magnetite # 3 : About 400 ft NW of # 2, on the top of a ridge. Spotty diggings extend 300 ft W, 3-5 ft wide and 2-10 ft deep - magnetite with sphene. Ilmenite : lot 15, con A, about 400 ft W of # 2 and 150 ft SW of # 3. Calcite face with vug, about 35 x 8 ft high, 10 ft W of a skid road on it's E side and 200 ft E of a skid road on it's W side.



Exploration History

Mineral location : World Class specimens of ilmenite - up to 11.0 kg in size ! Also, magnetite, up to 10.0 kg in size ! Anatase as well (pseudomorphic after ilmenite).
