Lithology Comments

May 25, 2011 (A Wilson) - Coarse-grained marble overlies amphibolite gneiss on the east side of the pit. The gneiss is interbedded with marble in the south part of the pit. Hornblende gneiss, hedenbergite gneiss and granitic gneiss all have been observed in the area.

Mineralization Comments

May 25, 2011 (A Wilson) - Mineralization consists of: disseminated flakes of molybdenite or grains of pyrite-pyrrhotite; veins of massive molybdenite, pyrite, pyrrhotite and minor chalcopyrite; massive pods and layers of molybdenite and pyrite, pyrrhotite, and minor chalcopyrite parallel to the gneissosity of the amphibole-plagioclase gneiss. Grab samples collected from the waste dumps by the OGS in 1978 returned values ranging from 32 ppm to 8550 ppm Mo and 111 ppm - 3000 ppm Cu and trace Ag and Au. A grab sample of massive sulphides collected by the OGS in 1978 returned 100ppm U3O8 and 3060 ppm Th.
