Access Description: The deposit is located about 400 m east of Hwy. 514, and is accessible by foot along an overgrown bush road.



Exploration History

1917: Sometime during World War 1 adjoining claims were owned and prospected by Herman Liedtke (Con. X) and John Windle (Con. IX). 30 to 40 tons of rock was removed from one or two pits. 1939-42: Edgemont Mines Ltd. - property acquisition; trenching, pitting, DD-1000 feet 1942: 27 tons of hand-cobbed ore containing 0.75 percent MoS2 were shipped to Cleveland, Ohio, by Edgemont Molybdenite Mines Ltd. They also excavated several more pits and trenches.

Lithology Comments

Jul 06, 2011 (A Wilson) - The granite pegmatite dike occurs a long the contact between crystalline limestone to the east, and paragneiss to the west. The dike trends N25°E and can be traced south form the workings for 700 feet to the old shaft. The dike ranges from 5-25 feet in width.

Mineralization Comments

Jul 06, 2011 (A Wilson) - Molybdenite is found as a coarse aggregate with calcite, pyrrhotite and quartz in fractures in the pegmatite. The mineralization extends over a length of 311 m. A grab sample collected by J.H Webster in 1942 returned 0.58% U3O8.
