Dec 07, 2005 (C Papertzian) - The quarried stone is considered typical of the better Beekmantown limestone (March Formation). It is brown with a cast of yellow and fine-grained (similar to that at Dyer's quarry). It is soft enough for bush hammering and is used as a building stone. As at the Mills quarry, there is an upper 8 inch bed, 1 foot of thin material and a massive 10 inch bed below.
