Sep 11, 2015 (A Wilson) - Six narrow pits were put down on parallel leads of apatite and mica. The average width of the pits is 5 feet and the deepest pit was 75 feet. The mica is dark amber and crushed. It occurs with a little phosphate and calcite on parallel northwest veins. The principal work for apatite was carried out on lot 4. There, some half-dozen narrow pits have been opened upon parallel leads of phosphate and very dark mica, the openings being some 10 to 15 feet apart, and situated only about 50 feet from the shore of Big Rideau lake. The deepest of these pits is down 70 feet, the remainder being only shallow openings. The average width of the pits does not exceed 5 feet. Considerable phosphate was extracted, also, from lot 10, and the workings here are somewhat extensive.
