Access Description: From South River on Hwy 11, turn west on Ottawa Ave. for 0.2km. Turn north on Eagle Lake Rd for 26.9km to the SW road to Spring Lake (past Spring Lake South Rd). Proceed 600m to the gate ~40m north of the driving shed. Traverse 65m w to pit.

Nov 03, 2009 (A Wilson) - The gneiss is described as a hornblende, scapolite gneiss. Crystalline limestone and some garnet skarn are exposed to the north and south.

Mineralization Comments

Nov 03, 2009 (A Wilson) - Grab samples collected by Satterly in 1941 returned 50.92% Fe, 14.12% SiO2, 0.78% TiO2, 0.08% S and 0.05% P. Irregular stringers and disseminated magnetite occur across a width of 4 feet at the south side of the pit and a band of solid magnetite up to 12 inches in width occurs 2 feet south of the mouth of the pit.
