Exploration History

The property was first worked by Mr. A. Dubblestein who completed basic prospecting in this area for white dolomitic marble. 6 samples were taken from the claim group and were analysed for 12 elements. The property was optioned by 1262646 Ontario Inc. in the summer of 2001. A bulk sample was partially completed in the fall. 2003: GeoVector Management Inc. performed geological mapping, and Industrial Mineral Testing and Marketing. 2007-2008: Coloured Aggregates Inc. completed sampling, assaying and analyses, and diamond drilling

Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (C Papertzian) - The prospect is in a dolomitic marble belt, known as the Dungannon formation, and contains some silicated marble. The silicates may include chondrodite, diopside, phlogopite, plagioclase and tremolite. The belt trends north west including Ashden and Simpson Lakes. It is truncated on the eastern shore of Len Lake. 'This is the marble member forming the core of the Mayo anticline where it crosses the township boundary between Mayo and Ashby. Because this fold plunges northeast, the outcrop of the marble narrows rapidly, and soon after passing into Ashby, the marble disappears below the overlying Hermon Formation. The plunge depression ends near Len Lake. (GR 26, A.M. Evans, p 8)'. The dolomitic marble observed around Simpson Lake was pure white. 'Within the marble areas, dolomite appears to be irregularly distributed' (GR 26, A.M. Evans, p 16).'

Site Visit Information

Date: Mar 21, 2001

Geologist: C Papertzian

Notes: This prospect was visited on July 11, 2001 with the claim holder. A grid had not been cut as of that date. The claim holder showed where the whitest dolomite occurred on the claim group and where the original 6 samples were taken from. Since no mapping had been completed the size of the area of white dolomitic marble could not accurately be determined.
