Mineralization Comments

Feb 27, 2012 (A Wilson) - Allanite crystals up to 2.5 cm in length were observed at the site. Nodular masses of brown to black, radioactive minerals commonly associated with crystals or masses of cyrtolite and columbite were common. These masses often reached a weight of 100 pounds. Several tonnes of amazonite were reported mined and shipped from the core of the dike. H.V. Ellsworth also observed calciosamarskite at this site. A grab sample of pyrochlore collected by the OGS in 1977 assayed 9.23% U3O8 and 1.93% Th. A sample of pegmatite containing uraninite, sphene and zircon assayed 2400 ppm U3O8 and 720 ppm Th.

Dec 07, 2005 (D Laidlaw) - Varieties: Peristerite and amazonite.
