Lithology Comments

Feb 23, 2012 (A Wilson) - The deposit consists of several zoned, pink pegmatite dikes, dipping to the north, cutting a group of paragneiss units that trend east northeast and dip moderately to the south. There is evidence of a fault trending northwest, 2 km east of the deposit, and possibly one closer (<1 km to the east). The main dike is lens-shaped. At its western end it has a width of 5 feet and rapidly widens to the east and with depth, until a maximum width of about 70 feet is reached towards the centre of the workings. At the eastern end in the lower cut, the dike is not well exposed but does not appear to exceed about 25 feet in width.

Mineralization Comments

Feb 23, 2012 (A Wilson) - Cyrtolite occurs in single crystals or masses of crystals that are up to 1 inch in size and are frequently covered with hematite. A typical analysis of pink feldspar from the mine is 64.60% SiO2, 19.3% Al2O3, 0.09% Fe2O3, nil CaO, 12.35% K2O, and 2.67 Na2O. A 40-ton bulk sample collected by the Phillips-Doubt Syndicate graded 3.9% U3O8

Dec 07, 2005 (D Laidlaw) - Large allanite crystal (approx. 30 cm long) in feldspar showing radial fractures. Uranopyrochlore in smoky quartz with radial fractures. (field visit 2000).
