Exploration History

1902-1917: sporadic production of corundum by Ontario Corundum Company, Ashland Emery and Corundum company and Armstrong Corundum Company. 1961: Cor-O-Tex Industrial Minerals Limited - property acquisition. Presence of corundum also noted on adjoining Lot 19, Con 13.

Jan 17, 2012 (A Wilson) - Pink and buff syenite gneiss enclose a band of leucocratic nepheline-corundum-plagioclase gneiss 5-10 feet in width.

Mineralization Comments

Jan 17, 2012 (A Wilson) - Bronze corundum crystals up to 6 inches in size have been found here. Barrel shaped brown and green corundum crystals up to 5 inches long have been reported. The corundum crystals are usually oriented with long axes parallel to the foliation. The amount of corundum in the eastern cut is approximately 10%. The amount of corundum in the pegmatite in the southwest cut is estimated at 10-15%.
