Aug 31, 2011 (A Wilson) - Eight feet of very fine-grained heavily bedded, brownish grey calcium limestone is exposed. A few small nodules of chert and silicified fossils are present, particularly in the upper 4 feet of the quarry. Some of the stone was worked for dimension stone for use in constructing culverts along the railway and some of the stone was used for building houses. The quarry was estimated to be 75 by 40 feet in size.
Aug 31, 2011 (A Wilson) - A grab sample collected by Goudge returned the following analysis: 2.44% SiO2, 0.55% Fe2O3, 0.39% Al2O3, 0.02% Ca3(PO4)2, 94.57% CaCO3 and 1.90% Mg CO3.
