Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (C Papertzian) - A calcite-celestite vein in marble with an average thickness of 2 ft. It is very vuggy (and leached) with minor sp and cp. Celestite occurs mostly as dense, white-clear crystals in loose aggregates and is very pure (93 00 % SrO4, 1.30 % CaCO3). 100 lbs was collected from the dump in 1921 and one specimen weighed 50 lbs. The deposit is adjacent to, and on a continuation of the vein and fracture system of, the Kingdon Mine property.
