Point Location Description: Deposit symbol ' P 26 ' on Hopefield Fault.

Location Method: Conversion from MDI

Access Description: The working is adjacent to the S side of the unused CNR line, 2.4 km W of Aylen Lake station. It is reached by walking down the track from the crossing on the Aylen Lake forest access road.



Exploration History

1921 : first worked by a Mr. Bambrick. 1922-3 : worked by the Canadian Non-Metallic Minerals Company. About 500 tons of ore are reported to have been shipped. Work was confined to an open-cut which stretched from the track for about 60 ft and was 25 ft wide and 25 ft deep.

Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (C Papertzian) - The pegmatite, hosted by pink biotite-hornblende gneiss, consists of pink microcline with some white feldspar. There is considerable quartz which may have formed a core that is not exposed. Exposure, other than in the cut, is poor.
