Lithology Comments

Dec 05, 2012 (A Wilson) - The iron formation occurs in a ridge trending in a general northwest-southeast direction and ranges in width from 300 to 1000 feet. Outcrops of iron formation occur as shoals in Kokoko Lake. The iron formation consists of alternating bands of magnetite, silica and jasper. There are lenses in which magnetite is interbedded with only jasper, and others in which magnetite is interbedded only with fine-grained quartz or chert. The banding ranges in thickness from very fine to 2 inches, and averages about 1/4-1/2 inch. The iron formation is locally brecciated.

Mineralization Comments

Dec 05, 2012 (A Wilson) - Magnetite forms 10-150% of the rock by volume and the magnetite grains have a diameter averaging about 0.18 mm. Sampling by the ODM resulted in grades ranging from 25 to 40% iron over 500 feet. Three possible ore bodies are present, each including material over 25% magnetite. At the western end, two parallel zones are indicated. The northern zone averages about 40 m over an exposed length of 330 m. The southern zone averages about 110 m over an exposed length of 460 m. Another deposit of possible ore-grade is located near the central section of the iron formation. It averages 126.8 m wide for a length of approximately 900 m.
