Mineralization Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (C Salo) - Brecciated and sericitic intermediate 'tuff' within the largely glacial drift covered (Baker et al. 1982; McClenaghan et al. 1988, 1987; Steele 1988) Porcupine-Destor Fault Zone or near it within weakly metamorphosed (greenschist or lower metamorphic facies) tholeiitic volcanic rocks of the (Archean) Kinojevis Group (Jensen 1973, Jensen and Langford 1985, Jensen and Baker 1986, Johnstone and Steele 1989) is reported (assessment files, Resident Geologist's Office, Kirkland Lake) to be altered (of unspecified type) and bleached in appearance. Banded chloritic and sericitic zones are reported (assessment files) to occur near the stratigraphically upper tuff contact. Multistage quartz-carbonate veins contain pyrite towards the lower tuff contact. The highest gold assay reported in the assessment files is from Canamax Resources diamond drill hole no. 049-02- 7, which yielded a 1 m section of material which averaged 910 ppb of gold.
