Feb 28, 2017 (A Wilson) - Williams Lake occupies an area of 140 acres, and low ground south of the lake may increase the total area underlain by marl by a further 100 acres.

Feb 28, 2017 (A Wilson) - Williams Lake marl is very sandy and hence of poor quality. A 7.5 foot sample taken I low ground south of the lake analysed 63.1% CaCO3, 10.7% MgCO3, 0.69% Fe2O3 and 28.76% insoluble. The dry powder is pale grey with a low brightness. Natural particle size is 70% finer than 325 mesh 43% finer than 10 microns. The crude marl contains 43.0% water; 935 pounds of dry marl are available in one cubic yard of the crude.
