Dec 07, 2005 (C Salo) - Geological mapping (Sutcliffe and Steele 1989; Jensen and Langford 1985; Jensen 1989, 1985; Troop 1989; Prest 1953; Steele 1988; McClenaghan et al. 1989, 1988, 1987; Baker, Seaman and Steele 1989) indicates that bedrock in the occurrence area is largely glacial drift covered and that it consists mainly of east striking, steeply dipping, and south facing weakly metamorphosed (greenschist or lower metamorphic facies) tholeiitic basalt, intercalated rhyolitic flows, and interflow sedimentary material of the (Archean) Kinojevis Group. These supracrustal rocks are intruded by narrow (tens of metres in width) north striking diabase dikes of the (Proterozoic according to Heaman 1989) Matachewan swarm. Prest (1953) mapped the south half of lot 3, concession I and indicated that numerous north northwest striking faults occur here.

Dec 07, 2005 (C Salo) - Prest (1953) reported that: ...a grab sample by the writer taken from a pit sunk in a shear zone in lot 3, concession I, 400 feet north of the Guibord-Cook township boundary line yielded 0.01 ounce of gold per ton. (p.37).
