Access Description: The occurrence is located on a small island in the southwest end of Dickison Lake approximately 60 km northeast of Terrace Bay (claim map G-31). Access is gained by float plane to Dickison Lake or by logging road from Terrace Bay to the east end of Dickison Lake.
1928: The area was staked, but no work recorded. 1931: Prospecting and staking; Canada Gold Ventures Syndicate. 1954: Geological investigation; M.W. Bartley for the C.P.R. 1970: Geological mapping; M.W. Carter (ODM). 1983-1987: Prospecting; N. Hibbart, J. Marcella, D. McCullough and others. 1984: Property examination and lithogeochemical sampling; OGS Resident Geologist staff.
Province: Superior
Geological Age: Archean
Dec 07, 2005 (D McKay) - Schnieders et al. (1996) describe the occurrence as follows: When visited by the authors in 1984 the water level in Dickison Lake was very high. A carbonate rich shear zone was observed on the small island and on the mainland to the east-northeast. Carter (1975) shows this area as very close to the contact between the metasedimentary rocks and the granitic and migmatitic rocks. Granitic and pegmatitic dikes were observed in the area. A splay fault off the Kamuck River/Gravel River Fault transects the area. Minor chalcopyrite, malachite staining and pyrite were observed in altered metasedimentary rocks. Bartley (1954) states: A promising occurrence of galena, sphalerite and minor chalcopyrite and pyrite outcrops at the water's edge on a small island in the southwest end of Dickison Lake. The showing appears to strike N60 degrees E.

Dec 07, 2005 (D McKay) - The sulphides are contained in an altered sedimentary rock composed of brown weathering carbonate, biotite, sodic feldspar and quartz.

Dec 07, 2005 (D McKay) - Bartley (1954) described the occurrence as follows: A promising occurrence of galena, sphalerite and minor chalcopyrite and pyrite outcrops at the water's edge on a small island in the southwest end of Dickison Lake. The showing appears to strike N60 degrees E. Masses of galena with intermixed sphalerite occur in blebs up to two inches in diameter, and are associated with minor chalcopyrite and pyrite. These sulphides are contained in an altered sedimentary rock composed of brown weathering carbonate, biotite, sodic feldspar and quartz. Grab samples collected from the occurrence in 1984 by OGS Resident geologist staff returned assay values of up to nil Au, nil Ag and 775 ppm Cu.
Dec 07, 2005 (D McKay) - Schnieders et al. (1996) state: A carbonate rich shear zone was observed on the small island and on the mainland to the east-northeast.
