Dec 07, 2005 (K R Kettles) - The Aiken-Russet Red Lake mineralized zones are situated in highly altered and deformed units of mafic metavolcanics and iron formation. In the past, the metavolcanics have been described as tuffs, and have been compared to the Madsen ore zones. Recent work (Durocher and Hugon 1983) has shown that the Austin tuff is comprised of highly deformed and altered mafic flows. The tuff units described on the Russet property are probably analagous to the Austin tuff, and represent shear zones in mafic metavolcanic flows. Rock units in the vicinity of the prospect strike roughly north-south and dip 50 degrees to the east. The Aiken Iron Formation Zone consists of gold mineralization in quartz stringers in the unit of iron formation.

Dec 07, 2005 (K R Kettles) - The mafic metavolcanics which host the Aiken Iron Formation Zone are highly chloritized and sheared and in the past were described as felsic tuffs. These units are analagous to the Austin tuff, and represent shear zones in the mafic metavolcanic flows.

Dec 07, 2005 (K R Kettles) - The host for gold mineralization is a unit of iron formation, locally brecciated, with quartz stringers filling the fractures. The iron formation contains low gold values, whereas some of the quartz stringers returned values as high as 0.25 opt Au. Values reported from the iron formation ranged from 0.03 opt to 0.06 opt Au. Some of the narrow quartz filled fractures across the iron formation assayed from 0.10 to 0.25 opt Au.
Nov 30, 2020 (Therese Pettigrew) - The Roberts Zone (the No. 1 Vein Zone of Aiken Red Lake Gold Mines Ltd.) is located in the central part of the property on the southwest side of Roberts Lake. A narrow zone of "tuff" is silicified and mineralized with pyrite, chalcopyrite, arsenopyrite, pyrrhotite, sphalerite and visible gold. Stibnite has also been reported to be present. The main area of mineralization is believed to have a strike length of 33 m and a true width of 1.2 m with an average grade of 0.14 oz. Au/t. Gold mineralization is thought to be concentrated near minor faults or to be localized by drag folding in a parallel band of ironstone. DDH E-2 returned 0.135 oz/t Au over 3.2 feet from a silicified shear with visible gold. DDH E-7 returned 0.46 oz/t Au over 1.7 feet from a sheared andesite with visible gold an d0.24 oz/t Au over 1.8 feet from a sheared andesite with visible gold. DDH UBT-87-16 returned 0.165 oz/t Au over 1.5 feet (Assessment report 52N04SW8900).
Dec 07, 2005 (K R Kettles) - The mafic metavolcanics are very altered and deformed such that in the past they were described as tuffs.
