The claims were originally staked in 1925. Buffalo Red Lake Mines Ltd. was incorporated in 1928. Half the claims were obtained from the Buffalo Red Lake Syndicate, and half were from the Red Lake Prospector's Syndicate. 1925-31: Buffalo Red Lake Mines Ltd. conducted stripping, trenching, test-pitting and drilled 590 ft. Some of the claims were allowed to lapse and were staked by James Walsh in 1939. These were later re-acquired by the company. Surface drilling continued until about 1946 and a total of approx. 8840 m were completed. From 1947 to 1948, a shaft was sunk to a depth of 60 m, and development work including 332 m of drifting, 84 m of crosscutting and 250 m of drilling was performed. In 1980-81, Wilanour Resources optioned the property and completed 6600 m of surface drilling. The company also excavated a small open pit and processed a bulk sample consisting of some 29,000 tonnes that graded 2.19 g/t Au. Underground development included accessing the 52.5 m level via a ramp, drifting and cross-cutting. 1981-82: Wilanour Resources processed a bulk sample consisting of 31,986 tons of ore from the open pit and from underground. 1656.3 ounces of gold were recovered from the bulk sample. The average grade of the bulk sample was 0.064 oz/ton. 1982: Consolidated Buffalo Red Lake Mines purchased the property. 1986: Privately-held Snib Resources purchased the property. 1987-88: J. Kita conducted geological mapping, prospecting and drilled 5 DDH totalling 1257 m. 1998: Claude Resources acquired the property as part of its larger Madsen Mine acquisition. 2013: Claude announced it had entered into an agreement to sell its 100% interest in the Madsen Gold Project (including Buffalo) to Laurentian Goldfields Ltd. 2014: Laurentian Goldfields Ltd. acquires the Newman-Madsen property from Sabina Gold & Silver Corp and changes its name to Pure Gold Mining Inc. Laurentian completed a 9000 m DDH program testing the McVeigh Ramp, Fork Zone, Junction and Point targets. 2015: Pure Gold sells non-core patented mining claims (the “Buffalo Claims”) to Premier Gold Mines Limited. 2016: Premier completed 34 DDH in and around the Buffalo for a total of 14,231 m. Premier completes a small metallurgical test on Buffalo ore using SGS Labs. 2020: Equinox Gold acquired Preimer Gold Mines, which includes the Hasaga Property (Hasaga, Buffalo, Central). 2024: Equinox Gold released an updated mineral resource estimate of the Hasaga Property (Hasaga, Buffalo, Central).

Dec 07, 2005 (K R Kettles) - The Buffalo prospect is located along the contact between the Dome Stock and mafic volcanic rocks. At this location the contact consists of a broad zone 60 to 100 m wide which contains numerous large and small dikes of granodiorite with intervening rafts and slivers of mafic volcanic rocks. A contact zone strikes roughly E-W and dips 80 deg south. Auriferous rocks are locaed in a broad zone of shearing which cuts across the contact area at an angle of approximately 30 degrees. The gold mineralization occurrsin steeply dipping narrow tourmaline or quartz-tourmaline veins which are oblique to the strike of the enclosing rock units and trend from N58degW to N65 deg W. Pyrite is the main sulphide, although chalcopyrte is also present.

Mar 02, 2017 (K R Kettles) - MDI1 DATA: DRILL INDICATED RESERVES 1980: 421,728 T @ 0.139 OPT AU (INCLUDES 103,822 @ 0.106 MINABLE VIA OPEN PIT), PRODUCTION 1980: 51,660 T MINED, 26,000 T MILLED; 1,656.3 OZ AU RECOVERED @ 0.064 OPT AVE. 2017: Hole HMP 141 returned 46.0 metres of 2.87 g/t Au.
Aug 22, 2017 (W Bellinger) - The Buffalo Mine target occurs within the Dome Stock at surface and remains open at depth. The Buffalo Zone is characterized by widespread persistent mineralization associated with silicification, weakly disseminated sulphides and variably distributed quartz veinlets containing tourmaline and visible gold.
Aug 22, 2017 (Therese Pettigrew) - DDH B-88-02 returned assays including 0.061 oz/t Au from 423-429 ft; 0.143 oz/t Au from 455-461 ft; 0.087 oz/t Au (with visible gold) from 548.5-556.5 ft; and 0.071 oz/t Au from 574-578 ft. DDH B-88-10 was laid out to test the downdjp extensions of a number of gold values indicated on surface and by earlier diamond drilling. Drilling done in the area from 1945 to 1946 searched for extensions of the Hasaga ore body. One of the holes contained an assay interval of 0.63 oz/t Au over a 1 ft section. Grab samples from the surface exposure returned values of 0.272/0.322 and 0.097/0.092 oz/t Au. The largest significant assay from BB-88-10 was 0.077 oz/t Au over a core width of 2.5 feet at a vertical depth of 600 feet (AFRI 52N04SW0200).
Dec 07, 2005 (K R Kettles) - The granodiorite adjacent to the quartz-tourmaline veins has been sericitized and silicified. The normally grey coloured granodiorite is pinkish-orange adjacent to the quartz-tourmaline veins. The mafic volcanic rocks have been carbonatized, chloritized and locally epidotized.
