Exploration History

1968: Canadian Dyno Mines Ltd. staked 333 claims to cover conductors detected by an airborne EM and MAG survey, including the B3 and B4 claim groups. Canadian Dyno Mines merged with Mogul Mines Ltd. to form International Mogul Mines. Prospecting, mapping, mag and EM surveys, soil sampling, and trenching was carried out on the B3 and B4 claim groups. 1969: 8 DDH totalling 674.8 m were drilled to test conductors and found the B4-7 zone, to the west of the Whale Zone. The B4-7 zone was delineated by 30 DDH in 1969. 1970: Coldstream Mines Ltd. acquired 100% of the property and took two claims to lease in 1976. 1990: Conwest Exploration Co. Ltd. (the successor to Coldstream Mines Ltd.) optioned the leases covering the B4-7 deposit to Menacorp Ltd., which resampled the B4-7 core. 1993: Conwest optioned the B4-7 leases to Minatco Exploration Ltd. 1998: Landore Resources optioned part of the property from North Coldstream Mines Ltd. 2000: Landore optioned additional claims from Brancote Canada. 2006: Landore drilled 2 DDH, totalling 300 m. 2008-9: Landore relogged and sampled 14 historical DDH in the Whale Zone. They drilled 16 holes totalling 3072.56 m on the Whale Zone.

Geology Comments

Sep 30, 2014 (Therese Pettigrew) - The Whale Zone is hosted within the Junior Lake portion of the Grassy Pond Sequence. DDH 0406-66 and 0406-67 at the Whale Zone, along the base of the Grassy Pond Sill, intersected medium-grained to pegmatitic-layered gabbros (McKay, 2006 AFRI 20000001946). The WNW trending Grassy Pond Sill intrudes the top of the Toronto Lake Group at its contact with the Marshall Lake Group. The Grassy Pond Sill is a thick (100-500 m wide), deformed, laterally continuous, gabbroic to locally anorthositic intrusive. The sill’s most identifying characteristic is the presence of large (up to 10 cm in diameter) subhedral to euhedral plagioclase phenocrysts that often collect to form leucogabbro and anorthositic intervals of highly variable thicknesses. The Grassy Pond Sill hosts PGE, Cu and Ni occurrences and is interpreted as being on the same geophysical structure as the B4-7 zone to the east (Tuomi 2010, AFRI 2.46224).

Mineralization Comments

Sep 30, 2014 (Therese Pettigrew) - Preliminary work on the Whale Zone in 2004 returned trench grab samples with values up to 0.84% Ni, 2.7% Cu, and 850 ppb Pd. Highlights from the 2006 driling included 0.29% Zn over 1.1 m (58.8-59.9 m) in DDH 0406-66 (McKay, 2006 AFRI 20000001946). In 2009, Whale Zone drilling returned elevated Au values, notably 26.10 g/t Au over 0.75 m in DDH 0409-252 in a vein. Drilling also identified a trend of elevated Ni and Cu values. DDH 0409-247: 0.14% Ni, 2.23% Cu, 0.16 g/t Au over 0.5 m, and 0.45% Cu, 0.43 g/t Au over 0.5 m. DDH 0409-252 : 0.24% Ni, 0.17% Cu, 26.1 g/t Au over 0.75 m. The high grade vein-hosted discovery at Whale Zone is 12 km east of Landore’s Lamaune Au propsect and runs aprallel and adjacent to the BAM Au Zone. The Whale Zone has the potential to host a Ni-Cu-PGE and/or Au deposit due to the geology and mineralization observed (Tuomi 2010, AFRI 2.46224).
