Feb 20, 2013 (A Wilson) - From the surface exposures, the deposit consists of a "zoned" pegmatite body with a core of nearly pure quartz. Surrounding the quartz are essentially parallel inner zones of potassic feldspar megacrysts. Further out from the quartz is an external zone of sodic feldspar pegmatite in contact with the wallrocks (biotite gniess). This quartz vein has a general trend of 095° and is 3-5 m wide at the east and west end and thickens to 10-15 m in width in the central portion. The vein appears to form an open fold (W- faulting) as the west portion strikes at 065° and dips 80° to 90° SE and the east portion strikes 110° and dips 65° SW. The vein is exposed over a length of 180 m and has been quarried in two pits in the central portion. The eastern pit is an elongate open cut that is approximately 50 m long, 7 to 10 m wide and 4 to 6 m deep (along the north face and west end). The west pit is separated from the east pit by a ridge of blasted pegmatitic boulders and outcrop and amphibolite outcrop. The west pit has dimensions of approximately 13 m x 25 m and is 3-5 m deep. The host rock to the vein is a medium-grained lineated, biotite amphibolite. Plagioclase-rich bands gradually alternate with thin fine-grained bands, lenses and xenoliths of mafic to ultramafic composition.

Feb 20, 2013 (A Wilson) - The central quartz is of exceptional purity, containing only minute traces of other minerals. Locally, some hematite staining is present on fracture surfaces – probably related to weathering effects or groundwater percolation. Occasional megacrysts of potassic feldspar are present in the quartz, especially near the quartz zone contacts. From this site, five samples resulted in an average normalized SiO2 value of 99.92% by means of XRF analysis. The normalized SiO2 range from 99.91% to 99.94%.
