Showings : # 1- about 500 ft W are pits in the slope of a hill for 200 ft. # 2 - about 250 ft SE of the camp is a cut 10 x 10 and 5 ft deep. #3 - about 800 ft NE of the camp is a square pit 15 ft across and 20 ft deep. # 4 - the main showing is in the S half of lot 9, about 1,100 ft NE of the camp . An L-shaped group of workings consist of an open pit (100 x 10-30 x 6-15 ft deep, E-W); a small drift 50 ft E of the pit (8 ft high, 10-20 ft across and 15 ft long down-dip); to the E of the drift is an open cut (80 x 25 x 10-15 ft deep).
1919-20 : Opeongo Mica Mines Ltd (T.A.Low) originally worked the property and removed 65 tons of rough mica. See OGS 1944 for a description of the workings. 1944 : the Algonquin Mica Prospecting Syndicate stockpiled 50 tons of feldspar from pegmatite in a pit 20 ft long and 10 ft deep on lot 10 (S half).
Province: Grenville
Geological Age: Mesoproterozoic
Dec 07, 2005 (C Papertzian) - Pegmatite dykes and sills cut anorthositic gabbro. The pegmatites are 1.5-2.0 m wide and contain some large biotite and muscovite books, coarse microcline and albite and quartz (some rock crystal and some smoky). They are poorly zoned or homogeneous. Monazite, euxenite (?) and garnets are described on lot 9 (showing # 1).
