Jun 05, 2009 (D Scholtz) - This deposit is in a pegmatite dyke 9.0 to 12.0 metres wide intruding biotite-garnet gneiss. The dyke is exposed over a strike length of 30.5 metres, contains crystals of microcline up to over 0.30 metre in diameter, white quartz, small books of muscovite, garnet and plagioclase. Columbite occurs sparingly in crystals and grains not over 0.5 centimetre in diameter. It was in this deposit that Toddite, a mineral similar to columbite, but in which some of the manganese and iron have been replaced by uranium, was first identified. (GDIF068)
