Point Location Description: Veins on shore of Wawa Lake
Location Method: Conversion from MDI
Access Description: The veins are easily accessed by canoe from Wawa Beach. Travel northeast along the south side of Wawa Lake for approximately 1.5 km to the adit on the shoreline.
1897-1900: gold discovery by Mrs William Teddy, property sold to J. M. Dickinson who in turn transferred the property to J. J. Mackey and J. L. Caverhill; stripping, 40 ft shaft with 30 ft of crosscutting. 1933-1936: Consolidated Mining and Smelting Co. - sampling. 1936: reverted to Mackey Point Gold Mines Ltd. 1963: Surluga Gold MInes Ltd. - diamond drilling. 1989: Citadel Gold Mines Inc. - mapping, sampling, stripping.

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The veins are hosted by the Jubilee tuffs. These tuffs are adistinctive package of intermediate rocks occurring between intermediate to mafic and intermediate to felsic metavolcanic rocks of the 2750 Ma cycle. These rocks are of local distribution and are largely absent between the intermediate to felsic and intermediate to mafic metavolcanic rocks in other areas of the Michipicoten greenstone belt.

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The veins appear to be associated with sheared tuffaceous rocks and diorite along the Jubilee shear zone along the water's edge. The veins are between 2 inches to 2 feet in width and are composed of glassy quartz.

Values obtained from the veins along the point are: 1.02 oz/t Au over 1 ft; 12.44 oz/t Au over 0.9 ft; 0.56 oz/t Au over 1.2 ft; - calculated averages are 2.43 oz/t Au over 1.05 ft. Results are taken from 1933 sampling undertaken by Mackey Point Syndicate.
