Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - Two barite veins are situated on the north slope of a high ridge of contact metamorphosed mafic metavolcanics and monzonite. The metavolcanics show extensive epidote layering and are bordered on the south by a heterogeneous zone, grading in composition from monzonite to pyroxene amphibolite.

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The barite veins weather white. Barite forms either subhedral crystals or occur as fine-grained crystalline aggregate. Quartz and calcite are common gangue minerals. Samples of the barite collected in 1922 returned values of 86.60% Ba, 76.50% Ba, 86.9% Ba and 88.45% Ba. Samples taken from drill core taken from the ultramafic rocks lying to the north of the barite veins returned nickel values ranging from 0.17-0.3 % Ni. Samples collected by Extender Minerals in 1978 returned Ba values ranging up to 85.1%.
