Jun 26, 2014 (A Wilson) - Gold was found in quartz and quartz-carbonate veins that cut altered pillowed metavolcanics and diabase and dip steeply south. Two quartz veins are exposed at surface for a length of about 300 ft and contain a great deal of white quartz over widths up to 8 ft. For the most part, the quartz is white massive material, almost devoid of mineral but there are short lengths of vein which contain considerable coarse pyrite and one section near the shaft that contains some chalcopyrite. Drill logs note that the grey porphyry is frequently carbonated and contains green carbonate in the veins. Green carbonate was also discovered between 800 and 1026 ft in DDH 1 and 2 completed by Twindyke Mines in 1944.

Jun 26, 2014 (A Wilson) - The pocket of high gold values is reported to have been composed of coarse gold, bismuth telluride, lead telluride, and silver in a crushed-quartz matrix. The wall rocks are strongly carbonatized for distances of 5-10 feet from the veins. The alteration zone in the vicinity of the veins is about 60 ft. wide. Assays from the No. 1 vein, obtained by Rickard Ramore Gold Mines in 1936 returned values of $6.00 Au over 66 inches and $6.00 Au over 18 inches ( gold at $20.50). Assays from the No. 3 vein, obtained by Rickard Ramore Gold Mines in 1936 returned values of $10.85 Au over 30 inches and $98.00 Au over 18 inches ( gold at $20.50). Assays from the 5 drill holes completed by Rickard Gold Mines Limited returned: $15.60 Au over 2 feet (DDH 1), $5.80 over 5 ft. (DDH 2), $5.00 Au over 5 ft. (DDH 3) and $56.60 Au over 2 ft. and $8.40 Au over 1 ft. (DDH 5). Silver values from samples collected near the shaft area in 1917 returned values ranging from $1.20 Ag to $4.70 Ag. Grab samples collected from the surface outcropping of the veins by J.W. Dixon (ODM) returned $0.80 Au over 4 ft. width and $0.40 Au over 5 ft. from a quartz vein in greenstone approximately 250 ft. east of the shaft. A chip sample collected by the ODM returned trace Au, trace Ag, 0.35% Cu, trace Ni, trace Pb, trace Mo. A chip sample taken along a length of a pit 1000 ft. south of the shaft and an assay showed traces of Au, Ag, Cu and Ni. The north vein at the shaft contained considerable molybdenite on slips and fractures in the quartz. High grade ore was encountered between the depths of 5 and 14 feet and little gold was found below 40 ft. Assays from the 1996 drilling by RJK returned assays of 127 ppb Au over 0.64 m, and 223 ppb Au over 1 m. There are numerous mentions of spectacular gold values, but no definitive information is available.
