Lithology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The lamprophyre has a fine-grained matrix and contains abundant actinolite xenoliths. It has been injected into the surrounding mafic to intermediate tuffs and breccias. These breccias have been interpreted to be alkaline extrusive rocks. The lamprophyres are interpreted to be intrusive alkaline phases of the same diatreme. These extrusive rocks are medium to thickly bedded pyroclaistic air-fall deposits and debris flows. They grade upward into lapilli-tuff and tuff. The intrusive and extrusive phases host significant proportions of fragments of locally derived country rock. The Engagement zone reaches 70 m true thickness and pinches to 8 separate debris flows between 1-3 m thick.

Mineralization Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - Initial samples collected by Band-Ore in early 2001 returned 5045 microcdiamonds and 65 macrodiamonds from a total sample weight of 96 kg. By May 2001, Band-Ore had recovered 9094 microdiamonds and 141 macrodiamonds from a total of 249.6 kg of mateial. The largest diamond recovered from the bulk sample was 3.74 mm by 3.3 mm by 3.10 mm (0.254 ct). In addition, the bulk sample yielded 29 other diamonds ranging in size from 3.06 mm to 0.70 mm. By January 2002, the company had reported 13,299 micodiamonds and 340 macrodiamonds from samples weighing 406.4 kg. The caustic fusion results from 66 channel samples weighing 637 kg returned 7216 diamonds greater than 0.15 mm. There were 33 diamonds which sat on a 0.5 mm sieve with 2 dimensions >0.5 mm. Two bulk samples processed by DeBeers retuned 20 diamonds from 42.5 tonnes.
