Operational Access Description: Access; Travel 3.8 Km South Of Highway 101 On The Horwood Lake Road To A Bush Road Just Past The Railway Tracks That Leads 2 Km West To The Mine. History; 1946 To 1947-property Acquired By Joburke Gold Mines Limited And A Three Cmopartment Vertical Shaft Sunk To A Depth Of 408 Feet, With Laterals At 125, 250 And 375 Feet. Lateral Development Consisted Of 130 Feet Of Crosscutting On The 250 And 375 Foot Levels. Diamond Drilling In 1947 Totalled 24,600 Feet In 60 Surface Holes And 774 Feet In Five Underground Holes; 1949 To 1950-joburke Gold Mines Did 2,395 Feet Of Drifting And 190 Feet Of Crosscutting As Well As 2,462 Feet Of Underground Diamond Drilling In 60 Holes. Work Ceased In 1948; 1949 To 1950-mcintrye Procupine Mines Limited Took An Option On The Property And Dewatered And Sampled The 250 And 375 Foot Levels; 1964-5,000 Feet Of Dd Was Done Under An Agreement With Denison Mines Limited; 1973 To 1975-property Optioned By Noranda Exploration Limited And The Mine Put Into Production. Old Ore Dumps Were Shipped And A Decline Was Sunk On A 17deg Slope To The 60 Foot Level. The Year 2000 Survey Reports Four Irregular Shaped Pits And One Capped Shaft. It Is Believed That The Inclined Shaft, From Historical Documents, Is Located Within One Of The Pits.
