Operational Access Description: Access; Foster Lake Is Located Approximately 400km North Of Red Lake. The Small Shallow Lake Is Accessible By Float Plane. Foster Lake Is 65km From The Community Of Bearskin Lake And 95km From The Sachigo Indian Reserve. Remote Site; Capped Shaft; Sealed Escape Way; Open Raise; Townsite Being Used Semi-annually Partially Collapsed Headframe; Concrete Foundations. The Year 1993 Survey Reports The Two Compartment Shaft Is Capped. The Escape Way North Of The Shaft Is Filled While The Raise To The South Of The Shaft Is Open. The Open Raise Has A Concrete Collar. The Mill, Office, Dry, Crusher, Power And Hoist Buildings Have Been Demolished. Only The Concrete Foundations Remain. The Headframe, Hopper And Sorting Bin Are Partially Standing. The Headframe Is 15.25m High And The Supports Have Been Cut. The Sorting Bin Has Fallen On Its Side. All The Mine Buildings Are Build On Waste Rock. The Waste Rock Has Been Levelled Out To Extend The Non Muskeg Area. The Tailings Area Is Vegetated. The Townsite Is In Relatively Good Condition. All Standing Buildings Are Metal Clad. The Cookery And One Of The Bunkhouses Are Partially Collapsed. The Townsite Appears To Have Been Used By Trappers And Their Families As Winter Homes. Ogs 2012 Red Lake Regional Resident Geologist Report States: Sachigo River Was In Production From 1938-1941 And 46,457 Short Tons Of Ore Was Milled From This Site. 2014/15 Mndm Inspection: Historically The Site Could Be Reached By Float Plane Or Helicopter. The Dock Is Now In Poor Condition And The Best Option For Access At This Time Is By Helicopter. The Shaft Is Open To Surface And Is Filled With Water And Debris. The Shaft Cap Concrete Slab That Was Reported To Be Present During The Previous 1994 Assessment Is Not Located Over The Mine Opening. The Deteriorated Concrete Slab In On The Ground Approximately 3 Meters From The Mine Opening.
