Operational Access Description: Past Producing Salt Brine Field Typically Administered Under The Mnr Petroleum Resources Act But Included In The Mndm Mining Act; Buildings & Well Are Still On Site; First Opening Date Unknown; Commodity: Salt. Access: Highway 7 At Lambton County Road 8 (immediately S Of Hwy 402 Interchange 34); East To Warwick Sideroad 6-7. Brine Well And Pump Lie S And E From Intersection. Evaporation Plant Building Is Orange Metal-clad Structure To Se. The Property Was Developed By Arthur Johnstone Kingstone And Carried On By His Sons Charles & Fred (~1885). By 1933 It Was Known As The Warwick Pure Salt Company Which Went Bankrupt. The Property Was Acquired By United Salt And Chemicals (1964) Which Became New United Salt Mines In 1969. The Latter Company Attempted To Bring The Site Back Into Production. The Site Has Considerable Historic Value As This Was The Longest Surviving Of The Independent Producers. In Addition The Wooden Pump Beam And Sheaves Deserve Preservation In A Museum Setting (petrolia?)
