Operational Access Description: Access: From The Termination Of The Spanish River Road And Regional Road #4 Continue East On #4 For 1.1km. Site Is Plainly Visible On The South Side Of The Road. Extension Of The Worthington Ore Body Mined Through The Totten No.2 Shaft,; Commodity: Cu,ni (principal); *no.2 Shaft Probably Relate To Shaft Sunk Down To 18m In 1885 And Subsequently Deepened To 29 Metres In 1891-94 By The Dominion Nickel Company; Mine Operation Ceased On October 4, 1927 Due To Cave-in Workings Collapsed Carrying Down The Mine Power House, About 122 Metres Of Track, Part Of The Road And One House. Year 2000. Surface And Mining Rights: Patent. The Fence Around The Water Filled Collapsed Pit Has Fallen Over In Several Places. The Breach Closest To Spanish River Road (~50 M From) Is 75 M Long. A Raise At The West End Is Open And Filled With Water. The Shaft Was Capped With Timbers (now Rotted) And Covered With Steel Sheets (now Rusted Through). Faces Above The Water Diversion Tunnel Are 5 M And 10 M High And Protective Fences Are Beginning To Fail. Prospect Shaft Above Tunnel Is Capped And Vented With Steel Pipe.
