Operational Access Description: The Orser (1938-1942)and Marston Sites (amis 07546)(1944) Are The Same Property Operated At Different Times. Creighton Orser (1950) Mined 25 Tons In Surface Trenches On Loy 8 Con 6. F. Orser Developed And Worked The Site Between 1938-1942 Mainly By Open Pits Where Orser Opened Up The Mica Pegmatites By Open Cut Workings Producing 25 Tons. This Was Expanded By Marston Minerals Into Con 7. In 1942, And In 1944, Marston Minerals Sunk A Shaft To 20m And Produced About 20 Tons Of Mine-run Mica And Established Buildings On The Site. Mndm 2014; There Are Two Distincly Different Areas Of Operation Where Work Occured At Two Different Time Periods. In The South East Section Of The Property, There Are A Series Of 5 Trenches That Run South East From The Atv Trail. Approximately 25m North East Of These Trenches There Is A Series Of 5 More Pits And Trenches. In The Northern Most Grouping Of Pits Is Likely The Location Of The Shaft That Was Sunk By Marsten Minerals In 1944. There Is An Old Concrete Pad And Hoist Bolts, Presence Of Waste Rock Piles, An Old Ore Cart And Old Rail Steel Provide Further Evidence Of Location Of Shaft. The Year 2000 Visit Located The Open Cuts. The Site Is In A Remote Location, Except With Respect To The Hunt Camp. All Cuts Are Accessible Via Ramp Like Declines At One End. Access; North From Bon Echo Villa On Hwy 41 For 7.7km, Then West On Mnr Junior Ranger Camp Road For 3.0km And Rough 4x4 Road, E101 Snowmobile Trail, To Powerline Tower 266.
