Operational Access Description: Access: Proceed On Hwy 66 East Of Larder Lake North For 1.5km On The Larder Lake Station Road. Turn Right After Crossing The Onr Tracks And Proceed Northeast For 250m. Turn East And Cross The Railway Tracks And Proceed East For 250m To The Mine Gate History: Shaft Sinking Began In 1921 And Continued Through 1922. A Mill Was Constructed In 1926, And Was In Production Until The Mine Closed In The Spring Of 1928. In This Time Period, The No. 1, Had Reached A Depth 0f 1200', With Lateral Work On Levels At Approximately 125' Intervals. The No. 2 Shaft Had Been Sunk To 1050' By 1928, With Lateral Workings On Seven Levels. Omega Gold Mines Commenced Milling Operations In Early 1936, And Was In Continuous Production Until The Mine Closed Again In 1947. In This Time Frame The No. 1 Was Deepened, And A Winze From The 1550' To The 2000' Level, Permitted The Opening Up Of 3 New Levels. Total Ore Production Amounted To 1,615,081 Tons Which Was Then Valued At $7,788,606. The Primary Commodity Was Gold.
