Mineralization Comments

Dec 20, 2006 (Mark Puumala) - Winter (1987) indicates that Pickle Crow Gold Mines outlined three well-defined east-west to northeast trending structures to the northeast of the Albany Shaft (D, E and Sigmoid Veins). These up to 600 m long structures are reported by Winter (1987) to contain gold-bearing quartz veins that returned assay values in the 0.1 to 0.5 oz/ton Au range from surface samples. Diamond drilling by Gallant Gold Mines in 1981 (Hodge 1981) identified a mineralized zone east of the No. 15 Vein of McGregor (1989) that is referred to as D-Zone East (note that Hodge (1981a) refers to the No. 15 vein as the D-Zone). The Sigmoid Zone is in-turn located further to the east, between D-Zone East and the Crowshore Patricia C-Zone. Hodge (1981) suggests that the No. 15 Vein (D-Zone), Sigmoid Vein and Crowshore Patricia C-Zone are all part of the same quartz vein system. The D-Zone quartz vein was described by Hodge (1981) as a massive quartz vein that contains minor carbonate, with or without sulphides. Visible gold has been noted at several locations in this vein system. Hodge (1981) reports that diamond drilling of the D-Zone East by Gallant Gold Mines obtained five ore-grade intersections over a strike-length of 150 m. The average grade of these five intersections is reported by Hodge (1981) to be 0.37 oz/ton over 1.5 m. Hodge (1981) used this information to estimate reserves of 42,305 tons grading 0.36 oz/ton Au in the D-Zone East. McGregor (1993) indicates that follow-up diamond drilling in the area northeast of the Albany Shaft by Noramco in 1988 returned assay results of 0.075 oz/ton Au over 12.1 m in ddh HC88-240 in the D-Zone, and 0.06 oz/ton Au over 11.46 m in ddh HC88-251 at the North Porphyry Contact Zone. McGregor (1993) does not provide a location for the North porphyry Contact Zone.

Site Visit Information

Date: Jul 18, 2007

Geologist: Mark Puumala

Notes: A stripped outcrop exposure was observed on July 18, 2007 at UTM Zone 15, 706549E, 5711939N. The outcrops consist of sheared mafic metavolcanic rocks containing numerous contorted quartz pods/veinlets within zones of intense shearing. Foliation in the rocks at this location has a general orientation of 245/75, while notable zones of quartz veining striking approximately 055 and 090 were observed.
