Mineralization Comments

Dec 28, 2006 (Mark Puumala) - The Hook Vein is described by Pye (1976) as an approximately north-striking quartz vein that has an average width of 0.3 m over an exposed strike-length of 145 m. The vein is contorted in places and is not of uniform thickness. The vein curves sharply to the west at the north end of its exposure, and sharply to the east on its south end, resembling an open z-shaped flexure (Pye 1976). Pye (1976) reports that the vein mineralization is similar to that of the nearby No. 6 or Springer vein, which contains pyrite, pyrrhotite and arsenopyrite. Figure 26 of Evoy (1988) indicates that Noramco surface sampling of the vein produced assay results of up to 0.053 oz/ton over 0.76 m. These values were much lower than those that Evoy (1988) indicates were reported by Central Patricia Gold Mines in 1937 (i.e., up to 2.06 oz/ton over 0.51 m) although visible gold is indicated to be present in the vein.

Site Visit Information

Date: Jul 18, 2007

Geologist: Mark Puumala

Notes: During a July 18, 2007 site visit it was observed that the Hook Vein is hosted within mafic metavolcanic rocks. Immediately to the north of the vein, the metavolcanics exhibit iron carbonate alteration and have a well-developed foliation that strikes approximately 075. A narrow (1 cm), near-horizontal quartz vein was observed in the central portion of the stripped area.
