Mineralization Comments

Dec 28, 2006 (Mark Puumala) - Evoy (1988) reports an assay of 0.11 oz/ton over the width (0.7 m) of a thin, sheared and sulphidized quartz-albite porphyry intrusion in ddh CP-88-37. More recently, Archibald (2004) has reported gold mineralization near the contact between mafic metavolcanics/banded iron formation and a quartz-feldspar porphyry intrusion at a location referred to as the Road Zone. This reported mineralization appears to be in close proximity to CP-88-37. Strong northwest-striking foliation has also been noted in this area by Archibald (2004).

Site Visit Information

Date: Jul 18, 2007

Geologist: Mark Puumala

Notes: Outcop exposures observed in the area of this occurrence on July 18, 2007 included pillowed mafic metavolcanics, porphyry, and banded iron formation. Sulphidized iron formation was exposed in trenches at this location in close proximity to a porphyry intrusion containing quartz veining. A well-developed northwest-striking foliation (azimuth 135) was measured in the mafic metavolcanics.
