Mineralization Comments

Dec 28, 2006 (Mark Puumala) - The geology in the vicinity of this occurrence is reported by North (1986) to be dominated by felsic to intermediate metavolcanic rocks that include tuff, agglomerate and pyroclastic flows. Stratigraphy in the area generally strikes 030, with steep northwesterly dip. The occurrence is associated with an approximately 1600 m long northeast-trending VLF-EM conductor (North 1996). Diamond drilling results reported by North (1986) indicated that the conductor consistys of graphitic, biotite-rich, foliated metasediemntary rock and tuff. No anomalous gold assays were obtained from this material. However, several gold assays between 0.01 oz/ton and 0.2 oz/ton were reported from concordant to cross-cutting quartz veins and stringers (in ddh MA-P-86-21 and 22). The gold mineralized quartz veins are reported to sometimes contain epidote and/or sulphides (i.e., trace chalcopyrite and/or pyrite). The most favourable assay reported from this zone was 0.02 oz/ton over 1.5 m from ddh MA-P-86-21 (North 1986).
