Mar 21, 2014 (A Wilson) - Minimum thickness of 20 ft of refractory clay seen in several beds divided by sand, siderite and lignite. Below exposed beds, an auger hole proved an addtional 17 ft of refractory clay. Multiple exposures of clay downstream for 3000 ft. Drill holes inland from the shore line passed through thicknesses of overburden up to 100 ft before reaching clay. Lignite seam is probably the lower seam of the Onakawana field. Lignite in two seams aggregating 4.6 m at depths of 10-17.5m and 15.7 - 22 m.
