Geology

Province: Superior

Subprovince: Sachigo

Terrane: North Caribou

Geological Age: Archean

Geology Comments

Aug 01, 2014 (A Wilson) - The property straddles the contact between the Archean-aged granite gneiss, volcanic greenstone belts and related intrusions of the Superior Province with upper Ordovician aged sedimentary rocks of the James Bay lowlands.

Lithology

Lithology Data
Rock Type Rank Composition Texture Relationship
Peridotite 1 Peridotite Host
Ultramafic-Unsubdivided 2 Ultramafic To Mafic Footwall
Mafic lava flow-unsubdivided 3 Near

Lithology Comments

Mar 26, 2007 (A Wilson) - The peridotite is described as displaying banding. Alteration to serpentine and asbestos noted. The remainder of the drill hole intersected ultramafic-mafic metavolcanics, mafic metavolcanics, intermediate metavolcanics and feldspar porphyry. A fault zone is interpreted as lying at the contact between the mafic and intermediate/felsic metavolcanics. Drill hole FW-06-04 did not intersect the same chromitite layers. It intersected a sequence of intermediate to felsic tuffs that returned anomalous copper values.

Mineralization Comments

Mar 26, 2007 (A Wilson) - Diamond drilling intersected two high-grade chromitite layers. The upper chromitite layer returned assays of 23.4% Cr, 0.19 g/t Pt, 0.21 g/t Pd, 0.32 g/t Ru, 0.05 g/t Rh and 0.12% Ni over 1.03 m. The lower chromitite layer returned assays of 18.6% Cr, 0.23 g/t Pt, 0.48 g/t Pd, 0.30 g/t Ru, 0.05 g/t Rh and 0.13% Ni over 0.83. Anomalous gold values up to 4.6 g/t gold over 0.3 m also was intersected below the chromitite layers.
