Mineralization Comments

Aug 31, 2007 (Mark Puumala) - Atkinson et al. (1990) indicate that the Watt and Durham occurrence is situated within massive mafic metavolcanic flows hosting narrow units of felsic tuff intruded by a gabbro sill. The occurrence was reported by Kega Gold Mines to be hosted within a single quartz vein ranging in width from 0.9 to 9 m. Senet Copper Mines reported that the vein was strongly auriferous, and that mineralization consisted of disseminated pyrite and trace chalcopyrite. Cruickshank (1988) reported finding quartz veins of geochemical interest in the general vicinity of this showing, although not apparently locating the wide vein described above. Quartz veins a few centimeters in width, striking in a general north-south orientation, and either barren or mineralized with trace chalcopyrite, pyrite, pyrrhotite and/or arsenopyrite, were reported in this general area. Reported gold assays from these veins were quite low (<95 ppb). However, Cruickshank (1988) reported the discovery of a 5 m by 2 m patch of gossan mineralized with 5% pyrite at this location. The gossan is hosted in an outcrop of felsic tuff, and a composite grab sample of this material assayed 2.9 g/t Au, 2.9 g/t Ag and 0.1% Pb.

Jul 31, 2019 (Therese Pettigrew) - Samples collected in 2014 returned results up to 0.22 ppm Au, 2.8 ppm Ag, and 0.04% Cu (Assessment report 20000008320).
