Mineralization Comments

Oct 24, 2007 (Mark Puumala) - Chute (1988) indicates that Noramco diamond drill hole No. NBW-88-02 was targeted to test the intersection between a linear magnetic anomaly and a chemical metasedimentary unit. The targeted chemical metasedimentary horizon was mapped by Ayres (1970) as an approximately east-northeast-trending unit of oxide-facies ferruginous chert. Lithologies that were reported to have been intersected in drill hole NBW-88-02 include mafic metavolcanics, metasedimentary rocks dominated by chert, and a number of felsic to intermediate intrusive dikes. Significant stringer sulphide mineralization (up to 10% pyrrhotite and 2% pyrite) was reported to occur in brecciated, silicified chert. Elsewhere the chert was reported to contain approximately 2% sulphides. The mafic metavolcanics were also reported to contain mineralization, with up to 3% stinger pyrrhotite, 1% stringer pyrite, and trace chalcopyrite near the top of the drill hole. Chute (1988) reports an assay of 520 ppb Au from a 1 m section of mafic metavolcanics mineralized with stringer pyrite and pyrrhotite. This intersection was immediately below the contact with brecciated chert shown on the drill hole log (AF RL 53C/13SE #48)
