Mineralization Comments

Oct 24, 2007 (Mark Puumala) - Chute (1988) reports that Noramco diamond drill hole NBW-88-03 was advanced to test a magnetic lineament that was interpreted to represent a northeast-striking fault zone. This inferred fault was also mapped by Ayres (1970). The rocks encountered in this drill hole were reported to primarily consist of metasediments (AF RL 53C13SE # 48). Metasedimentary lithologies that were reported include marble, arenite, chert, sulphide facies iron formation, and wacke. Sections of mafic tuff (associated with chert and iron formation) and biotite granodiorite were also reported to have been encountered. Chute (1988) reports the common occurrence of silicification, quartz veining and sulphide mineralization throughout the borehole. Silicification accompanied by pyrrhotite (up to 10%) was noted to be common in sections logged as biotite-rich arenite. Elsewhere in the borehole, pyrrhotite mineralization was reported to be common (up to 5%), occurring within quartz veins, and as fracture fillings, disseminated grains, irregular patches and stringers. In addition to pyrrhotite, trace quantities of pyrite, chalcopyrite and arsenopyrite are reported to occur at various location within the borehole. Chute (1988) reported a maximum assay value of 2410 ppb (0.07 oz/ton) from a 1 m section of stringer pyrhhotite-mineralized arenite.
