Mineralization Comments

Oct 24, 2007 (Mark Puumala) - Chute (1988) reports that Noramco diamond drill hole NBW-88-08 was advanced to intersect coincident east-striking magnetic and VLF anomalies. The drill hole intersected a narrow unit of interbedded tuff and wacke at surface that was underlain by a granodiorite (in places porphyritic) intrusion. Chute (1988) reported that the tuff/wacke is strongly silicified, weakly propylitic, contorted and intruded by numerous narrow felsic dikes. The granodiorite intrusion is also strongly silicified and exhibits potassic alteration. The tuff/wacke and granodiorite are reported to be mineralized with up to 2% disseminated pyrrhotite and up to 1% disseminated pyrite. Trace disseminated chalcopyrite is also reported to be present in the intrusion below 74 m. Coarse-grained molybdenite (up to 1 cm grains) was encountered near the bottom of the hole (at 102 m) in a unit logged as a porphyritic felsic dike (AF RL 53C/13SE #48). Anomalous gold assays of greater than 100 ppb were reported throughout the drill hole from samples of all lithologies. The most notable assays reported on the drill hole log (AF RL 53C13/SE #48) include: 1977 ppb Au over 1.5 m at the top of the chalcopyrite-bearing zone in granodiorite; and an average value of 659 ppb Au over 3.2 m in the molybdenum-bearing dike. An assay of 24 ppm Mo was also reported over 1.6 m at the bottom of the hole.
