Mineralization Comments

Oct 24, 2007 (Mark Puumala) - Chute (1988) indicates that Noramco Explorations advanced this drill hole to test an east-striking magnetic anomaly. The upper 80 m of the drill hole encountered silicified metavolcanics and metasediments. This silicified sequence is underlain by three metres of ferruginous chert/wacke that is subsequently underlain by interbedded tuffs and wackes that are present to the bottom of the hole (146.3 m). Scattered quartz feldspar porphyry dikes were also logged in this drill hole. Chute (1988) reports the occurrence of a zone of 2 to 5% pyrrhotite between 28 and 36 m, and the occurrence of up to 5% pyrrhotite in feldspar porphyry dikes. The drill hole log (AF RL 53C/13SE #48) also indicates that the ferruginous chert/wacke unit contains up to 5% stringer pyrrhotite. The drill hole log also indicates the presence of two zones of >80% silica replacement between 39 to 52 m and 64.4 to 77 m. The lower silica replacement zone is located within a breccia zone that occurs between 60 and 80 m. The silicified zones are not reported to contain significant concentrations of sulphide minerals (up to 0.5% pyrite and/or pyrrhotite). No gold assays greater than 500 ppb are reported from the upper silicified unit. However, an assay of 745 ppb was reported over 1.5 m from a sample of silicified intermediate tuff encountered between 118.4 and 119.9 m. An assay of 497 ppb was also reported over 1.5 m from a sample of the ferruginous chert/wacke unit.
